Introduction
All pupils follow a common programme in Years 7-9, with lessons in the established range of subjects. Because of the importance of a high standard of English to success throughout the curriculum, English language, at this stage, is taught in smaller groups to facilitate a greater focus on individual difficulties or talents.

Year 10
In Year 10 a range of options is available, designed to enable pupils to consider a variety of career or further education placements. Subjects chosen at this stage are studied over a two year period leading to GCSE and IGCSE qualifications. Option groups vary in size but will always be small enough to allow early identification of individual strengths and weaknesses and to provide opportunities for establishing good personal relationships. In the final two years pupils who have successfully completed GCSE courses can move on to intensive study at GCE 'AS' and 'A' level as preparation for entry to University and other colleges of further or higher education, either in Britain or other parts of the world. UCAS applications are made directly from the school.

Alongside the British curriculum, students with a sufficient level of attainment in the Spanish language may study selected components of the official Spanish curriculum enabling them to obtain qualifications in both education systems.

Written reports following assessment are issued termly. Progress throughout the year is closely monitored by the class teacher, class tutor and Heads of Departments. There are several parents' afternoons in the course of the year when teachers are available for consultation.

Year Groups
There is one class of up to 25 children in each year under the supervision of a class tutor. These tutors monitor the pupil's social and academic progress, taking a personal interest in the development of each individual.

Homework
A Homework schedule is set for each year group which parents can monitor through the student's homework diary.

Discipline
Within a firm yet fair framework, pupils are expected to develop a high degree of self discipline and control conforming to the school's rules which stress the safety and well-being of the school community. Breaches of the rules are met with a range of appropriate sanctions for which parental support may be sought. In extreme cases the Headteacher may ask for the suspension or subsequent withdrawal of any pupil found to be unsuited to the work or ethics of the school. A full school uniform is compulsory for all pupils.
